Smile.

There are some things about travel that really make me smile...

I can't help but smile at the poor use of English, especially in signs and menu's! Particularly on a local taxi was written 'Thinks God' rather than 'Thanks God' and on the menu at our hotel the steak comes with paper sauce...

A man in the market yesterday called me his sweetheart, and then I introduced him to Ben, my sweetheart. He was very quick to humbly apologise. But he was not as forward as a man the other day who introduced himself to me claiming I would be his future wife. Perhaps not.

I love that old-school Hillsong is pumping here in the Internet cafe.

Saw a man yesterday with a t-shirt that said 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie' we were so excited and laughed together when I said quietly 'oi, oi, oi' and then he walked past us and it was written on the back of the t-shirt!

We went to use an ATM, and while it was about 27 degrees outside the tiny ATM room was super air-conditioned. Seriously like stepping into a fridge. Thanks for the cool room, Barclays Bank.

And so much more, but thought I'd share a bit of my world with you!

  1. Haha, wow sounds like the fun never stops in Africa! I laughed at the bit about the man who claimed you as his future wife - reminds me of an Austrian exchange student who came to our school one year and claimed I was his 'woman'. I so wish I had had a husband back then to set things straight!
